Domains
LBM can sell domain registration...
LBM can sell domain registration, transfer and renewal alongside your plans. It works through a registrar module: a connection to a registrar account that registers the names for you.
The pieces #
| Where | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Settings > Domains | Whether you sell domains, renewal invoices and the grace period. |
| Settings > Domain pricing | The TLDs (.com, .net…) on sale, their prices and which registrar handles each. |
| Settings > Registrars | The registrar modules, their accounts, and the domain lookup (the search that tells a visitor whether a name is free). |
| Billing > Domains | The domains your clients hold. |
Registrars #
The registrar modules in this release are Namecheap, Enom and ResellerClub. Open Settings > Registrars, switch one on and enter its account details (an API user and key; the module shows what it needs). Use Test connection. Each registrar has a test (sandbox) and a live mode.
You can also keep a manual registrar: LBM takes the order and the money, and staff register the name by hand.
Domain lookup #
The lookup is the check a visitor runs on the order form. By default it uses LaikaWhois, a lookup module that needs no account. You can choose another lookup, or none: with none, the search is switched off.
TLD pricing #
For each TLD you set the registration, renewal, transfer and restore prices, and the years allowed. You can import a registrar's price list and see when its costs change, so you know when your margin changes. A client's currency follows the usual rule: type a price for a currency, or let it convert from the default.
Renewals and the grace period #
LBM raises renewal invoices ahead of expiry (set how far ahead in Settings > Domains). After a domain expires there is a grace period you choose before it is treated as lost.
Selling domains with a plan #
A product can ask for a domain at checkout: register a new one, transfer an existing one or use one the customer already owns. Bundles can include a domain.
What a client can do #
In the client area a client sees their domains, and can change nameservers, manage DNS records (where the registrar supports it), turn on privacy, and renew.
To confirm: which of these actions each registrar supports, and the exact fields on the Domains settings screen. Registrar modules are written against the registrar's public API and should be tested on a sandbox account first.
