Requirements

LBM install requirements

Applies to LBM 2.x Updated 1 November 2026

The installer checks all of this for you on its first screen and will not go on until what is required is in place. Checking beforehand saves a round trip.

PHP #

  • PHP 8.2 or newer.
  • These extensions, all required: bcmath, curl, dom, intl, json, mbstring, openssl, pdo and simplexml.
  • A database driver for the database you will use: pdo_mysql (MySQL or MariaDB) or pdo_pgsql (PostgreSQL). One is enough.
  • Optional: fileinfo and zip. Without zip, some plugin and update features that open archives are not available.
Note

The release you download is protected with ionCube. If the installer lists ionCube Loader as a requirement, the server needs the ionCube Loader extension installed for your PHP version. Most hosting panels offer it as a switch; if yours does not, ask your host.

Database #

  • MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL.
  • An empty database, and a user that can create tables in it. Nothing is written until the connection works.

Folders the web server can write to #

  • system/ (logs, caches, sessions and backups)
  • config/ (the installer writes your database connection and your keys here)

The web server #

  • Point the web server's document root at LBM's public/ folder, not at the project folder. Everything else (code, config/, system/) must not be reachable from the web.
  • Use HTTPS. LBM is built for it: session cookies, payments and the licence check expect it.
  • A way to run a command every minute: cron on Linux, or the Task Scheduler on Windows (see the scheduler). Without it invoices are not raised and queued email is not sent.

Checking your PHP #

From a terminal on the server:

php -v
php -m

php -m lists the extensions that are loaded. Make sure the command-line PHP is the same version the web server uses: hosts often have several.

Memory and time #

The defaults of a normal hosting plan are enough to run LBM. Large imports and updates are the only jobs that need more time or memory; if one stops part-way, raise memory_limit and max_execution_time for the command line first.
